Description

Jauregi axes have the unmistakable curved edge of the traditional Basque moon bit. It enters the wood cleanly, releases without unnecessary drag and gives the strong, dry cut that generations of northern Spanish woodsmen valued.

Each carbon-steel head is cast, forged, ground and tempered individually in the Jauregi workshop. The solid beech handle widens securely above the eye, following the regional fitting method that helps prevent the head from working loose.

Choose the head weight for pruning, felling or splitting. Every axe is delivered sharp with a handmade leather sheath.

Leather blade sheath included. The leather handle protector and axe sharpening stone are optional extras, sold separately.

Characteristics

Head: hand-forged 0.45–0.50 carbon steel, approximately 55 HRC.
Profile: traditional Basque moon bit.
Head weights: 800 g to 2,750 g.
Handle: solid beech, 50–75 cm according to head weight.
Included: riveted leather sheath.
Finish: polished and delivered sharp.
Origin: made in the Basque Country, Spain.
