Description
Tarred hemp rope has the grip and feel that modern slick cord often lacks. It holds knots securely, stands up well to weather and looks at home on traditional canvas shelters and camp equipment.
The wood-tar treatment helps protect the natural fibre from water and ultraviolet light. It also gives the rope an unusual emergency use: tease the fibres into a nest and they catch hot sparks well, or use a short length as slow kindling once you have a flame.
This 20 metre hank is useful for guylines, repairs, lashings and dozens of small camp jobs. Reproof occasionally with wax or oil to keep it performing at its best.
