A shelter cloth in the Nessmuk tradition
George Washington Sears, better known as Nessmuk, favoured a simple approach to travelling and sleeping outdoors. This oilskin tarp takes its cue from his shelter cloth, with dimensions adapted for modern campers.
Our oilskin cotton is treated with pure beeswax and natural linseed oil. No silicones, solvents or synthetic additives.
The 2.5 × 2 m rectangle gives you a practical canvas for a solo shelter. Nine attachment points keep the setup straightforward, whether you pitch it for the night or use it as the outer cloth of a traditional blanket bedroll.
Waxed cotton, made to be used
Oil-and-wax-treated cotton sheds rain while remaining breathable and quiet in the wind. Mountain Brown keeps the look understated, and a genuine leather Bushcraft Spain tag finishes the cloth.
Each Nessmuk tarp is handmade in Spain and weighs approximately 2 kg. Choose it for a compact, traditional setup; if you want more attachment points and a square shape, take a look at the 8×8 Oilskin Tarp.
