The Kephart Roll

A practical roll inspired by traditional camping

The Kephart Roll takes its name from Horace Kephart and the resourceful approach to camp life described in Camping and Woodcraft. Its simple construction gives you several ways to arrange a place to rest, using the equipment and supports available at your campsite.

Adapt it to your setup

Large openings at both ends have oilskin flaps and press studs. Close an end for a simple bivvy arrangement, lay the roll flat as a ground sheet or use it as the fabric section of a camp cot. It can also be filled with suitable dry material to make a ground mattress.

Two cotton fabrics, one useful design

One face is heavy-duty 10 oz oilskin; the other is 10 oz dry-treated cotton canvas. The roll measures approximately 74 × 196 cm, excluding the flaps, and weighs around 1.5 kg. Choose brown or green oilskin.

Choose your companions

You receive the Kephart Roll only. Poles, supports, suspension equipment and bedding shown in photographs are not included. The Camp Kit and Twin Size Confort Kit are optional additions. Suspended configurations require a suitable, correctly secured setup.

Oilskin care

Our oilskin is cotton treated with pure beeswax and natural linseed oil. No silicones or solvents. Let it dry fully before storage and refresh the wax finish when needed.
